Special Meeting of Wednesday, March 29 , 2017 (6:00 p.m.)

APPROVED MINUTES

 

Committee Members Present:  Robert DeFelice; Victoria O’Connor; Steven Hamilton (tardy)

Committee Members Absent:  Andrew Palmer

Ex-Officio Present:  Robert Wright, Jr

1. Call to Order Special Meeting.

Ex-Officio Wright called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m..

2. Election of Chair.

MOTION:  Ex-Officio Wright moved to elect Committee Member Robert DeFelice as Chairman of the Budget Committee.  It was seconded by Committee Member O’Connor.  The motion carried.  (3-0)

3. Appointment of Write-In Members.

A. 3-Year – 1 Position.

Jayne Rayno, who had received the largest number of write-in votes, respectfully declined to fill the position due to other commitments she had.  Committee Member O’Connor read into the record a letter that the Committee received from Gail F. Guertin, regarding her interest in joining the Committee.

MOTION:  Ex-Officio Wright moved to appoint Gail Guertin for the 3-Year Member position.  It was seconded by Committee Member O’Connor.

Discussion was had regarding who should fill the role, as there were no other people who put their name on the ballot for this year’s election.  The Committee Members concluded that it may be better to change the 3-Year position to a 1-Year position to allow for people to run in the 2018 election for the position, which would then be a 2-Year position.

MOTION:  Chairman DeFelice moved to modify the 3-Year Member position to a 1-Year Member position. It was seconded by Committee Member O’Connor.  (3-0)

 MOTION:  Ex-Officio Wright moved to appoint Gail Guertin for the 1-Year Member position.  It was seconded by Committee Member O’Connor. (4-0)

B. 1-Year – 1 Position.

Julia Jones received the largest number of write-in votes and accepted the position.

MOTION:  Ex-Officio Wright moved to appoint Julia Jones for the 1-Year Member position.  It was seconded by Committee Member O’Connor. (4-0)

4.  Final Comments.

The Committee Members discussed the future meeting schedule, and came up with the following tentative calendar:

May 15, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Orientation Meeting

August 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Regular Meeting

September 25, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Regular Meeting

October 30, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Regular Meeting

November 30, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Reserved for Regular Meeting, if needed

December 4, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Regular Meeting

December 11, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Regular Meeting

December 18, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. – Reserved for Regular Meeting, if needed.

5.  Adjournment

MOTION:  Ex-Officio Wright moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:37 p.m.  It was seconded by Chairman DeFelice.  The motion carried.  (4-0)
