Building and Grounds Maintenance

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Mowing and landscaping, basic (non-licensed) carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, drywall repairs, maintaining heating and air conditioning units, changing filters, pads, lubricating, cleaning components and maintaining Town equipment.
• Mow, fertilize, irrigate lawns and plants, prune trees and shrubs remove leaves and debris, remove snow and ice from steps, walkways and roofs, assist the Highway department with winter plowing, maintain cemetery grounds and roads.
• Plan and organize maintenance and repairs to be performed on interior and exterior of buildings and equipment, prioritizing repairs, and renovations.
• Requisition supplies, material and equipment maintaining appropriate inventories to support Town requirements.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair activities and projects.
• Oversee building maintenance contracts and service work; process and contract out repair requests as needed.
• Move equipment, materials, furniture, filing cabinets and office records and other items between buildings and storage areas as needed and set up facilities for special events, functioning as a substitute custodian when necessary.
• Respond to public inquiries in a timely courteous manner providing information within the areas of assignment, addressing, and resolving complaints.
• Keeps records of work completed, equipment, supplies and materials used , hours worked, reviews, and follows instructions.
• On occasion be available to work on holidays, weekends and nights as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma.
• 3 years of relevant work with references.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively – reading, writing with math skills and to follow written and oral instructions.
• Physical ability to perform all duties including finger dexterity, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and descending ladders and safely lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
• Possess a valid New Hampshire driver’s license.
