May 21, 2016 | Town Admin Site Walk, Corporation Hill Road, May 21, 2016 Present: Steve Bagley (Road Agent), David Angeli, Debby Lang, Jim Lowe, Roger Wells, Carrie Thomas, Dave Bettoney (property owner) Walk started at 9am at the one lane bridge on the “flats”. The group walked slowly up the hill and stopped and discussed every tree that had been marked with an orange blaze. Tree # 1 – Near bridge – double trunks. Losing pieces and few leaves showing now. Not a problem for the plow. Decided to trim rather than take down. This was one of the trees Mr. Bettoney wanted to keep. Tree # 2 – Plain dead trunk – take down Tree # 3 – Rotten, take down Tree #4 & #5 – close together – both can be taken down Tree # 6 – Three part trunk. Thousands of little holes in rows indicating bug infestation. Take down Tree # 7 – Leaning over the road, take down Tree # 8 – Skinny little tree, leaning, take down Tree # 9 – Bark off most of it, take down Tree # 10 – Across from # 9, three part trunk, no leaves, looks dead, take down Tree # 11 & # 12 – close together, bark off, take down Tree # 13 – Dead, take down Tree # 14 & # 15 – Dead, take down Tree # 16 – Huge old tree but dead, take down Tree # 17 – Dead inside, rotten wood at the main trunk joint, take down Tree # 18 – Dead, take down Tree # 19 & # 20 – on Schnitzer driveway. Need to check right of way and contact owner. Tree # 21 – Behind another tree – just needs a trim Tree # 22 & 23 – Dead, take down Tree # 24 – just trim Tree # 25 – across the road, dead, take down Tree # 26 – Big ash, dead base, take down Tree # 27 – Large tree, mostly dead, take down. Group finished at the top of the hill around 9:30 and started walking back down to the cars. Mr. Bettoney seemed satisfied with the process and the trees that were slated to be taken down. Most of the trees that were marked were clearly dead or dying – the ones we decided to trim or had questions about are noted in bold type above. On the way down the hill, Mr. Jones (not sure of first name) was driving up the hill and saw the group, pulled his car over and joined us. Debby Lang and I were further down the hill and we did not retrace our steps to join the others. Mr. Jones talked to Steve Bagley, Roger Wells and Mr. Bettoney on the way down. I am not sure what they discussed, perhaps Steve can add to these minutes with further comments. Submittted by Carrie Thomas
