Select Board Minutes

November 13, 2023

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Chair Headley opened the meeting at 5:00pm with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present at the meeting were: Dane Headley, Select Board Chair, Michael McManus, Selectman, Robert DeFelice, Budget Committee Chair, Budget Committee members Charles Nelson, Robert Wright Jr., Gail Guertin, and Charles Forsberg, Jon Korbett, Sutton Police Chief, and Lorri Himes, Sutton Bookkeeper.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

At approximately 6:05, Chief Jon Korbett presented his requested 2024 budget for the Sutton Police Dept. to a joint meeting of the Select Board and Budget Committee. This was followed by a lengthy line-by-line discussion of the proposed expense items by all present including Chief Korbett. In the end, the approved Police Dept. budget reflected some generally minor adjustments to a few of the expense items requested in the 2024 budget including buildings and grounds maintenance, dues/conference/publications, training, investigative supplies and mileage costs. Regarding the requested budget expense of $10,000 for cruiser repairs and maintenance, Selectman McManus opined that a formal analysis of purchasing a new cruiser every four years (currently at every six years) could possibly prove to be more financially feasible than continuing to pay repairs and maintenance costs at current levels. Also at the meeting, the Budget Committee voted to discontinue upcoming scheduled joint meetings with the Select Board.

Chair Headley made a motion to accept the 11/6/23 draft of the Board’s public minutes and Selectman McManus seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. McManus then made a motion to accept the 11/6/23 draft of the Board’s non-public minutes with a second by Headley. This motion also passed unanimously.

 

MANIFESTS:

The Board reviewed and approved the following manifests:

Payroll: $15,042.15

Vendor: $22,657.18
