August 23, 2021 @ 4:30 p.m.

 

 

Selectman William I. Curless, Chair, opened the meeting at 5:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Present at the meeting were William Curless, Chair and Dane Headley, Selectman; Adam Hurst, Road Agent, Tom Schamberg, State Representative; and Elly Phillips, Town Administrator.

 

The Board reviewed and approved the August 16, 2021, public and non-public minutes, and the August 18, 2021, public and non-public minutes.  The Board reviewed and approved the following manifests:

                Vendor Manifest:  $ 485,005.19

Payroll Manifest:   $   10,938.07

 

BUILDING PERMITS:

The Board reviewed and approved the following building permits:

Jessica Schneider and Mitchell Hall, 09-577-200, Shaker Road, for a standby generator.

Darrell Kuykendall, 10-112-422, Meadow Brook Road, for a woodshed.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Phillips discussed the tax deeding process.  Carol Merullo, Town Clerk/Tax Collector has been instructed to proceed with  deeding.

 

Adam Hurst met with the Board to advise that he was able to locate a contractor (John Sheehan) to do the roadside mowing in October.  Selectman Curless made a motion to go forward with roadside mowing.  Selectman Headley seconded the motion.  The motion passed by a unanimous affirmative vote.  Selectman Curless recommended that Mr. Hurst review the cost of acquiring a mower versus subcontracting for mowing services for budgetary analysis.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

The Board accepted the resignation of Chris Grant from the Highway Department.

 

Phillips advised that she was scheduling a public hearing regarding receipt of unanticipated funds from the American Recovery Funds.

 

The Board issued a Thank you letter to Whiskey Pines Landscaping for volunteering to perform landscaping in an attempt to save the sugar maple in front of the Town Hall.

 

Phillips advised that a fuel rate has been locked in for #2 oil at $2.306 for the 2021-2022 heating season.   Last year’s rate was $1.48 per gallon.  The town participated in the tri-town bid along with the Town of Bradford and Warner.

 

PUBLIC INPUT:

The Board reviewed an email from Sonja Suitor supporting the Solid Waste Facility staff.

 

At 5:12 p.m. Selectman Curless made a motion to enter into nonpublic session Pursuant to RSA 91-A:3,II(a) dismissal, promotion, or compensation of any public employee to conduct performance evaluation for Town Administrator.  Selectman Headley seconded the motion.  The Board was polled with Selectman Headley and Selectman Curless voting in the affirmative.  Public session resumed at 5:34.  The minutes from the non-public session were not sealed.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
