Board of Selectman

November 13, 2017 @ 4:00 p.m.

 

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Robert Wright, Jr., Chair.  Present at the meeting was Robert Wright, Jr., Chair; William I. Curless, Selectman; Robert DeFelice, MBC Budget Committee Chair; Dane Headley and Elly Phillips, Recording Secretary.

 

At 4:30 p.m., Dane Headley to discuss vacancy on the Select Board.  Selectman Wright and Selectman Curless discussed the duties and responsibilities.  Mr. Headley discussed his employment background, multi-generational ties to Sutton.   Mr. Headley has served on Sutton’s Zoning Board of Adjustment for seventeen years.  Mr. Headley expressed an interest in filling the vacant positon.

 

The minutes from November 6, 2017 were approved as written.  The Board reviewed and approved the following manifests:

PAYROLL MANIFEST:      $  9,104.93

VENDOR MANIFEST:       $33,663.37

 

BUILDING PERMITS:

The Board approved a building permit for Ryan and Tracy Mingarelli, 04-633-306, Brown Road for a barn subject to compliance with zoning regulations for wetlands.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

The Board discussed an Abatement request from Kevin Currie/Joyce Ananian 02-239-312, 2017 for interest on issue taxes in the amount of $68.84.  The Board instructed Phillips to prepare the abatement form.

The Board approved a purchase order for Linda Ford, Town Clerk/Tax Collector for Staples for toner cartridges.

The Board executed Eversource pole licenses.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

The Board reviewed their schedule for the week beginning October 19, 2017.

Schedule Items:

Solid Waste Fees Public Hearing scheduled for 11/20 at 5:30 p.m.

Library ramp non-public meeting scheduled for 11/20/2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Library

Performance Evaluation—nonpublic session — schedule for Department Heads, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m.

 

 

 

REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE:

The Board reviewed the annual KRSD Residency Letter and will request feedback from Linda Ford, Town Clerk/Tax Collector, regarding residency.

 

SELECTMEN’S COMMENTS:

Selectman Wright discussed property valuation information as submitted on the 2017 MS-1.

 

Sutton’s 2017 Net valuation        $ 257,810,284

Taxable Land:

Current Use Valuation was        $     1,152,254

Residential Land Valuation        $ 102,033,500

Commercial/Industrial Land      $     2,618,450

Total Taxable Land Valuation    $ 105,804,204

Taxable Buildings:

Residential                                      $ 139,679,440

Manufactured Housing                $         128,260

Commercial/Industrial                 $      7,822,910

Total Taxable Buildings                $  147,630,610

Utilities                                             $       4,797,350

Exemptions                                      $          421,880
